May the 4th Be With You, 2020

May 4, 2020

Next to Halloween, today is my favorite holiday ever.  May the 4th Be With You, my friends.  Every year, I look forward to making new themed outfits for the three of us to wear.

But let’s be honest with ourselves…I make Star Wars clothing year round.  It’s just that for May 4th, I make a special effort to create something for all three of us at the same time…and then force everyone to snap photos together.

Louis’ shirt is a Basic Tee from Patterns for Pirates.  I used a fabric that I had designed and printed for myself a year-ish ago and never made anything with.  But my vision was always to create this top for him.  The only thing special I did was create a bandolier out of a brown knit and iron on some HTV to it.  He makes a darn cute Chewbacca.

For my top, I REEEEEEEEEALLY wanted something to wear for my boyfriend Poe.  I created both pieces out of the Patterns for Pirates Basic Tee.  The “vest” is really the tshirt pattern, but with the arm openings cut much wider, the front scooped out, and then a chest piece sewn into the middle.  It was some super sketchy seamstress work on my part but I really like how it turned out.  I also took the Basic Tee and added a faux placket down the middle, and switched up the neckband a little bit, so it would look kind of like Mr. Dameron’s jumpsuit that he wears.

And for Bennett’s shirt…what do you know?  I used the Patterns for Pirates Basic Tee for his as well!  Ha….I don’t think I realized that until just now.

For him, I colorblocked the front and back pieces, dividing them evenly in length.  And then sewed it all together and slapped a cool Mandalorian design to the front with some HTV.  He digs it, and so do I.

Happy Star Wars Day!  May the Force be with you.

Patterns: Basic Tee - Womens | Basic Tee - Youth | Basic Tee - Mensby Patterns for Pirates
Fabric: Orange DBP from Sly Fox Fabrics, Fur Fabric (my own design), other fabrics from various sources that I can’t seem to remember right now

The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!
