Made for Mermaids released a new pattern and I just HAD to tell you about it. Here are some reasons why:
- My friend Megan designed it and she’s seriously the best.
- It’s a cleverly put together pattern and so fast to make that you’ll be making tons and tons of them.
- I’m really feeling myself in some of these pictures and you have to deal with me and my vanity.
Are you ready? I am!
Okay so first of all, the Colleen pattern is a batwing style cardigan that is full of some super fun options! You can colorblock it, wear 3/4 or long sleeves, and choose from a couple different collar variations. You really can’t pick wrong if you’re picking this pattern. Just saying.
Side note, aren’t these line drawings adorable colored in like this? So freaking cute!!
So the girls during testing kept talking about finding blankets in various stores that they wanted to use as “fabric” for a cardigan. And while I had zero intention of going out looking for any for my own use, I was out with Louis and Bennett at the bookstore and there just happened to be this chenille blanket on clearance, for $10. Even less than what it was marked! And I was all…..well this is now fate and I HAVE to try it.
I’m so glad I did, because this is probably the prettiest sweater I’ve ever made for myself. But as you can see from the photos (and the video I’m sharing on Instagram!) that I created a full blown fuzzy disaster mess in my home, on every piece of clothing I wore, in my hair, and basically everything I came into contact with. I’ve run it through the delicate cycle of the wash hoping to shake some of the extra bits off, but they’re still coming. So hopefully this dies down soon.
Because I want to wear this cardi SO BADLY, I just don’t want to deal with the repercussions of my decisions, hahaha.
The fit of this pattern is so relaxed and easy that it makes an AMAZING gift for loved ones in your life. I actually sewed up a whopping NINE in the last week that I’m sending out as gifts for my sister, sisters-in-law, and co-workers. I figured they’d make super cute Valentine’s Day gifts and they are so wildly quick to sew that it wasn’t a huge ask of me to make it happen.
All I’m saying is, drop what you’re doing and go grab this pattern for yourself. You won’t regret it!
