Fabric for Pirates :: April 2021 Reveal

Apr 15, 2021

Woohoo!  I think for the first time ever, I’m excited about April 15th showing up — because this time it means I get to share the April Fabric for Pirates subscription!

This month’s fabric is a super soft, purple-goodness of a “Yummy” 4×2 Ribbed Knit (GSM: 180.00 Content: 87% POLYESTER 13% SPANDEX) I luuuurve Yummy Rib so much right now — I’ve got a bunch of it in solids just begging to be turned into something and I’ve made a few tops for Bennett, Louis and I with it before.  It’s a huge hit in our household.

Of course I’m in extra love with this month’s fabric because of the ditzy floral / purple combination.  Purple is the best, isn’t it?  And also….LOOK HOW CUTE IT IS!!!  So perfect for spring/summer, right?  I made mine into a Twist Back Top from P4P…which is the first time I’ve sewn this pattern since release.  For shame, too!!  I forgot how fun it is to nail that twist and make something with a little party in the back going on.  Here’s a bunch of pictures of my butt to show you how fun the top is. HA!

As soon as I pulled this top off of the machine, I slid it on and then demanded that Bennett tell me my back was looking stronger.  I’ve been doing a lifting program for the last four weeks, three times a week, and I really needed him to lie to me and give me this reassurance that I was making progress.  I didn’t feel like he fully committed to his “of course you’re looking stronger” but I’m just going to take what I can get right now.  Forced compliments or not.

The Twist Back Top literally does what it says.  It twists in the back.  It features a dolman style sleeve, which has a long sleeved option — but I opted for the short sleeved length this time, thinking I’d be wearing it a lot in the next couple of seasons.  It’s a looser fitting silhouette, and the back itself is pretty open.  I like to toss on a cami underneath for a little extra coverage in the bottom-back…and also to make sure my bra doesn’t peek out above the twist.  I have a tanktop version that I made during testing that gets worn A TON by me with leggings for working out, so it’s super nice to have a version that I can wear in a more casual manner now.

It’s love from me, what do you think??

And in case you didn’t know enough about the Fabric for Pirates subscription yet — here are the deets:

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!
