All Buttoned Up by Patterns for Pirates

Sep 9, 2021

I dug into my button tin this past week, trying to find actual matching buttons because I was SUPER stoked to be able to make a new cardigan for myself.  And not just ANY cardigan, but the new All Buttoned Up by Patterns for Pirates.  Happy Release Day, y’all!  We are back in the swing of things over in the P4P world!

The All Buttoned Up is extra fun because it can double as a dress in the knee length version.  Of course, I failed to have time to photograph it like that…but I am super in love with it open as a cardi, so there’s no shame in my game at all.  Plus this purple sweater is knit is DELICIOUS and I can see myself wearing it all freaking fall and winter long.  (Spoiler alert: I’m already wearing it today at work.)

Here’s a quick rundown of all the features + options:

  • Multiple hem lengths
    • Cropped
    • Shirt
    • Tunic
    • Knee
  • Multiple Sleeve lenghts
    • Short
    • 3/4
    • Long, hemmed
    • Long, cuffed
  • A front button placket with hemmed bottoms and an easy to add collar
  • Back bodice seaming, to help keep away any pooling above your tush
  • Multiple neckline options
    • Crew
    • Vneck
    • Scoop
  • Fitted bodice and sleeves, with just enough room for layering

This version that I’m wearing in photos covers these options:

  • Long sleeve, cuffed
  • Knee length
  • Scoop neckline

I’m not much of a layers girl.  I think sometimes I feel restricted by it, and other times I feel frumpy.  Frumpy is not a word I’d use to describe myself in this All Buttoned Up sweater!  I love the shaping of it, even when it’s worn open it still hugs my curves and provides me with the silhouette that I prefer on myself.  Judy might have converted me to being a cardigan wearer after all!

I was actually super excited to find, while digging in my fabric stash, that I had enough of this delightful purple mélange sweater knit available for sewing up this version.  I used it before on this Sweater Weather top last year….which I wore an obnoxious amount of times last winter.  So I thought maybe I’d give myself two items in the same fabric to rotate an even more obnoxious amount of time.

I don’t know.  I’m crushing pretty hard on this new sweater of mine.  What about you?
