It’s so very meta of me to be wearing all these Katy patterns and being a Katy myself, isn’t it? I can’t help it, though! The new Katy Side Knot Top + Dress is seriously the cutest!! And you’ll be amazed at how quickly the tie element of it comes together, it’s almost like magic!
For my second Katy sew during testing, I made myself a delicious new sweater using a brushed waffle knit that i had in my stash. This one is going to get a TON of wear from me this fall/winter, that’s for sure!
Here are the options I chose:
- Fitted Sleeves
- Low scoop neck
- Top Length
- Added 1″ in the bodice (above waist) for my side waist length
It’s hard to totally tell in my photos because of the print on my fabric, but the back bodice pieces have a seaming. Meaning, it’s not cut on the fold, but the pieces are actually created for a little more body curve and allow for less pooling around the lower back area. I mean. I say that, and then I take a photo with my hands up in the air and it doesn’t let you see how magical it can be to have pieces drafted like that, haha.
The side knot is really the biggest champion in this top though. For obvious reasons. When you see the pattern pieces a light bulb will go off in your head on the construction and you’ll really start to think that Catherine at M4M is a genius. I love that it’s almost an illusion of something much more difficult to piece together. Like you can allow people to be super impressed with your sewing skills, when really you know the truth.
Have you picked up your copy of the Katy pattern yet? What are you waiting for?
