Whewwwwwwwwww. To say that October’s fabric shipment was theatrical is to put it lightly. We didn’t receive the fabric until over a week after the month had turned. After the payments processed. And the day that I was heading out of town for a friend’s wedding. It. Was. A. Lot.
Louis is awesome and helped me cut and ship all of the fabric in a single day, on his day off from his school for a fall break. Kiddo kicked butt and I was so thankful to have a 12-year old with a work ethic bust his butt for me and our subscribers. Because of the shipping delay, we also pushed back the reveal day — and today it’s happening! We get to share what we shipped this month to our Fabric for Pirates fam!
Despite our delays in shipping, Judy and I were super proud of and excited to send out the fabric this month! We were able to find a new distributor that specializes in deadstock fabrics and we rescued some stunning fabric from the landfill and put it in the hands of our subscribers!
Fabric Info: Peached Knit Jersey, in a navy herringbone print
Width: 54/56″ GSM: 223.00
Material: 68% Nylon, 23% Polyester, 9% Spandex
What is “deadstock fabric”? Basically, it’s any leftover fabric that can’t be used for its original purpose or order fulfillment anymore. In previous decades, those fabrics would have been unceremoniously thrown away, but today, deadstock fabric is finding a new life with companies that understand the importance of sustainability in the fashion industry.
I super dig the herringbone print. I couldn’t resist making myself a pair of Patterns for Pirates Loggers with it either. It has the best print for bottomweights, almost giving it a denim look! Isn’t it awesome?

A special shoutout goes to my beloved Sweater Weather in this cabled ivory knit from JoAnn Fabrics. It might be a little wrinkled because I wore it all day leading up to these photos…but it’s one of my favorites. I didn’t think I’d ever be someone wearing an ivory shirt (because I’m a creative + messy human) but it’s one of my favorites.
