Fabric for Pirates :: August 2023 Reveal

Aug 15, 2023

Hey Fabric Lovers! Long time no talk…in fact, it’s been a whole month since we’ve talked about the Fabric for Pirates subscription. It’s so uncool that I have to wait until the 15th of every month to share what I’ve made with the monthly fabric we send out, mostly because I love what we sent and I love what I made with it!

And guess what? I love this month’s fabric and I EXTRA LOVE what I sewed up for it. Wanna talk about it? Me too!

We are of the opinion that “if you sew for it, it will come”. Which is why this time of year while we are still in the thick of summer, we start sending out fabrics that are starting to vibe more with fall. This month’s fabric shipment was no different — we legit sent one to everyone that was described as “autumn leaf” by our supplier. I mean. Come on.

Honestly, I think it’s more of a terracotta color. But I’ll give it up for autumn leaf too. It’s so pretty!!

Fabric details:

  • Yummy Ribbed Knit
  • Width: 58/60″ GSM: 170.00
  • Material: 87% Polyester 13% Spandex

We’ve sent yummy rib before, but we hadn’t this year and we thought it’d be a good timing. It’s one of those fabrics that can be used for a ton of different apparel items. Think: dresses, tshirts, bodysuits, leisure pants, etc. It’s got great stretch + recovery, a beautiful drape, and is also textured so you’re getting a little more interest in the fabric than something with just a smooth front to it.

In case you didn’t know enough about the Fabric for Pirates subscription yet — here you go

Sign up! Receive! Sew!  We all love fabric, sewing and color… our goal is to deliver some amazing fabrics to you — of which you can turn around and make some amazing things for yourself, your loved ones, or your shop. Each month, you will receive 2-yards of knit fabrics (on varying bases) in the mail. Most of the time it will be a continuous 2-yard length, but we might surprise you with some coordinating prints from time to time too. The Fabric for Pirates subscription price is $30 and includes shipping.

You’ll get a fun surprise goodie included that we think most sewist would love along with videos, tips, and inspiration on what your fabric could be! One last treat in your monthly subscription is an exclusive discount code for you to use on any P4P pattern. So if your new fabric is begging for a new pattern you’ll have a coupon code to use!  **Payments process on the 1st of every month.

I made a Charleston Crossover dress in mini length with my fabric. It was a perfect pairing with the fabric + pattern, if you ask me.

I’m also over here hoping that my epic boob show that I’m giving here is distracting you from the fact that I completely forgot to press my hems before I threw it on for photos. Can we blame the fact that I just got back from a 2-week overseas vacation and am also prepping Louis + Bennett both for back to school (including setting up a new classroom for Bennett) and then also getting things ready for Louis’ 13th birthday weekend away? WHEWWWWW. Lots going on. My brain was just like “let’s get photos, what’s an iron?” Ha. Whoops.

You’ll forgive my misstep a little, hopefully. I pinkie swear that I pressed it before I took it upstairs and hung it in my closet. I’m not that bad of a kid, I promise.

Pattern: Charleston Crossover by Patterns for Pirates
Fabric: Yummy Ribbed Knit from August 2023’s Fabric for Pirates

Disclosure: As always, you’ll find some affiliate links scattered within my post, which means I receive a small amount of compensation if you end up purchasing something I’ve recommended.  Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.  Purchasing from my links does not alter the pricing in any way for you, it simply helps feed my sewing, creating and blogging habits.  Thank you for your support!
